If you are constantly burning out with content creation, today you’re going to learn something that’s going to change your life and its called: content repurposing. If you don’t reuse your content, you’re not being strategic about creating your content in the first place, and let me explain why.
I'm Natalia, the founder of Green Studio Marketing. My mission is to help industry leaders stand out, gain visibility, and simplify their marketing efforts, one website at a time. Today, I want to share with you a powerful strategy that can transform your content marketing efforts and triple your reach. It's all about repurposing and reusing your content effectively.
You might be wondering why repurposing and reusing content is worth your time and effort. Perhaps you're concerned about sounding repetitive or annoying your audience and I totally get that. In this article, I will address these concerns and show you how repurposing your content can actually save you time and become one of the most important business decisions you’ll ever make.
Content repurposing refers to taking existing content and transforming it into different formats or using it in various ways across different platforms. Instead of starting from scratch every time you create content, repurposing allows you to leverage what you already have, making your content be used in different ways and angles.
Absolutely! In fact the more you repurpose your content, the more your key marketing message will sink in. Let’s think about ads for a second. How many times have you seen an ad until you finally gave in and bought? The same is with content. Sometimes people need to hear the same message again and again in different ways until it sinks in and incites them to take an action.
If you are scared of repurposing your content, instead think of it like this: “every time I repurpose content, I am making sure my marketing message is clear until it hits the right people to convert them into clients”. The more you talk about the same topic, the more people will instantly relate you to that topic and you’ll start to build some reputation around that topic.
Content repurposing besides making your whole life easier, also:
By repurposing your content into different formats (such as blog posts, videos, podcasts, newsletters), you can reach a wider audience across various channels.
Different people consume information in different ways. Repurposing allows you to cater to different preferences and engage your audience on their preferred platforms. Not every single follower will be on your newsletter or listen to your podcast. So the more marketing channels where you decide to show up, the bigger your audience will be.
Repurposing content saves you from constantly brainstorming new ideas. You can take one piece of high-performing content and transform it into multiple marketing assets, saving you time and effort in the long run.
Let's say you have a well-researched blog post on a given topic. Here's how you can repurpose it:
1. Create an infographic summarizing the key points and share it on Pinterest
2. Turn the most important part of the blog post into a 5-10 slide carousel post
3. Turn the blog post into a downloadable PDF guide if relevant for a stage in your marketing funnel
4. Extract quotes hooks from the blog post and create reels with the hook and repurpose some snippets into the IG caption
5. Use the tips as the basis for a podcast episode, diving deeper into each strategy.
6. Create a newsletter around that topic and link to your blog post.
With this you spent time creating one single piece of content (the original blog post) and now you have multiple ways to talk about that content on different platforms and content types.
Now that you understand the importance of repurposing, let's explore some creative ways to repurpose your content:
Take snippets from your blog posts and repurpose them as engaging email newsletters. Add a personal touch and encourage readers to visit your website for the full article.
The cool thing about repurposing is that when you test different hooks on different channels, you can track and see if a newsletter ehadline did really well, you can think of a way to create a blog post with that angle so other people can find that content on Google
We live in an era of a 7 second attention span, so whatever type of content that performed well on your social media, you can think of ways to repurpose that into newsletters and blogs as wel.
I actually had the same question, a while ago I was so burnt out trying to come up with new content for my IG and that’s why I even quit posting for a year because I just couldn’t keep up. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon a post from Sun.Yi (the founder of a marketing agency that has worked with famous coaches like Mel Robbins) where he shared that reposting the same exact content on IG is actually a best practice.
You need to test what type of hook performs better and since only a fraction of the people that follow you actually see your content, it’s totally OK to repost the same exact content with slight adjustments every couple of months.
So I hope this gives you some clarity and the freedom to stop obsessing over a perfect IG grid, and instead get better at writing better hooks to make your content perform better!
