How to Double your Income Every Year While Working Less

As entrepreneurs our ultimate goal may be to gain financial freedom, but also the freedom to do what we love without burning ourselves out. If you want to learn how to double your income in a sustainable way, you’re in the right place.


Reaching financial freedom can be a bold goal. Many people search for it while scaling the corporate ladder with their predictable salary, but as someone starting a business from the ground up, reaching a sustainable and predictable sales forecast can be terrifying. 


When I started my business and quit my full time job I was very scared about making consistent sales. But after a lot of mistakes and learnings, I can proudly say that I’ve managed to double my income in the past 3 years in a predictable way. I pay my bills on time, I’ve managed to hire people to help me out, and I pay myself a salary every month. 


I believe this is one of the things most entrepreneurs struggle with, which is why I want to make the path to doubling your income year after year in a stress-free, predictable way easy for you and share what has worked for me. But I do have to warn you, this post is for the bold who aren’t scared to work very hard to build the business of their dreams. Are you ready?

 



How to increase your income stress-free and while working less


Stop feeling insecure about your prices, you can charge anything you want in your business


The perfect price strategy for your business is the one that feels right for you. I’ve made many mistakes in the past by undervaluing my work and charging less for what I know is worth more. It wasn’t until I learned how to price my services correctly when my sales really turned around. 


If you feel insecure about your prices, research the market, analyze what others charge in your niche, and spend some time thinking about what you can do to elevate the perceived value in your service. 


If you feel like you’re charging less of what your service is worth, spend time analyzing your client experience and put a price tag on every milestone you include.


You’d be very surprised about how people make emotional decisions. I’ve literally tested selling the same service in very different price points and what I’ve learned is that the people who want to work with you, will pay the price you tell them because they want to work with
you.


Make scary business investments

The more you push yourself out of your comfort zone, the more money you will make. Don’t let imposter syndrome push you away from investing in a coaching program or high-ticket consulting for building your business the right way. 


My first scary business investment was a copywriting certification program that cost me $1,000 USD. The wealth of knowledge I learned in that program helped me position myself as an expert in copywriting and after booking my first clients I quickly recovered that investment.


My second scary business investment was a high-ticket coaching program from a 7 figure course creator that cost me over $4,000 USD and I had to pay for it in a special payment plan that was cash-flow friendly. I remember that when I saw the results I could get after investing in such a program, I made the decision to pay for it quickly at 4am in the morning (and my husband told me that I was crazy for making a $4,000 USD purchase in 10 minutes). 


But guess what? After that second scary business investment, I worked very hard to restructure my business and recovered the investment the next year with my new services and prices. I was also able to hire people to help me out because I was making higher ticket sales.


So do you see the pattern here? The more you invest, the more you grow.



Grow your team, you can’t and shouldn’t do everything alone

I roll my eyes every time someone tells me: “I need help with marketing and want to make more sales, but I don’t have a lot of budget”. For me this type of mindset is very limiting and wrong because it screams “I want to grow, but I’m not willing to risk anything”.


And I believe this goes in line with building a team. If you want to double your income, you need to have more people that can help you grow your business. Two heads are better than one, and if your second head is as smart as yours, there’s no reason that your business won’t grow.


Build a sustainable and predictable sales strategy

This is one of the hardest parts about doubling your income, because sales aren’t always predictable, but your sales process can be. Spend some time thinking about what your inbound marketing sales process will look like, and repeat it like clockwork. 


Refine it and test it until it feels sustainable for you. For example, I spend most of my marketing efforts on 3 things: organic marketing, paid traffic and email marketing.


Set boundaries with clients

If you want to double your income but also have the freedom to enjoy your workdays and not be chained to your desk, you need to set healthy boundaries with clients. This means making your own rules like work hours, work days, project delivery dates etc. You also do not need to immediately respond to a text or email. If you value your time, your clients will value it as well.



Create sources of passive income

Building passive income is a smart way to earn more and work less. It’s everyone's dream! But it’s not as easy as it sounds and it does require a lot of hard work. Here are my three recommendations for building passive income:


Affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is when you get a percentage of a sale for recommending someone else’s product or service. You can become an affiliate of other courses, or tools like Canva for example. The options are limitless, and it can be a little bit overwhelming to choose affiliate brands, so I’d recommend to keep it simple and choose your affiliate brands strategically. 


Digital products and courses

When you turn your coaching into a course, it’s the perfect way to earn passive income in a stress free way. Digital products like PDFs or ebooks can also bring another source of income to your creative business.


Collaborations with other service providers

I’ve made some connections in the online world, and my philosophy has always been “community over competition”. Partnering with other creatives who offer similar services can be a way to upsell or downsell whatever you don’t do. For example, I offer ads services to my clients with my partner agencies and get commissions for bringing them clients, and they refer me website clients and I also give them a cut. It’s a win/ win!


Your dream business is just some milestones away

Enjoy the process, work hard and remember to take things one day at a time. I’m sure that if you follow these mindset tips and strategies, doubling your income is a goal you can achieve if you believe in yourself.
